IDOL STAR UNDERWOOD HEADS FOR THE PERSIAN GULF


AMERICAN IDOL winner-turned-country superstar CARRIE UNDERWOOD is hoping to spread a little Christmas cheer to US troops stationed overseas after signing up for her first United Services Organizations (USO) tour of duty.

The JESUS, TAKE THE WHEEL singer will jet off to the Persian Gulf in the next few days to meet, greet and perform for soldiers. Underwood's spokesperson JESSIE SCHMIDT says, "There are no details and no dates for safety and security reasons. They never release exactly where the tours are happening, or exactly when they're happening. All I can share is that it is sometime before too long from now." Schmidt adds, "She's completely excited about it. She does have some band members that are able to go with her over there, so they're all just really jazzed."
